Dr. Johnson Adebayo Ojo
Dr. Johnson Adebayo Ojo holds Ph.D in Public Health (ESPAM, Benin); M.Sc. Degree (UNAD now EKSU); Post Graduate Diploma in Theology, B.Sc.(Hons) in Health Education (UNN); RSH (London) DPH; D.LGS (Unife now OAU); Diploma in Public Health for Health Superintendent (SHT, Akure); Dip. in Medical Social Work (SPL, Maryland). ... He is a Fellow of West African Post-Graduate College of Environmental Health (FWAPCEH), Fellow of College of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (FCBET), Fellow of Health Informatics Society (FHIS), Fellow of Institute of Chattered Administrators (FICA), Fellow of Chattered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (FCILGPAN) and Fellow of Institute of Security, Nigeria (fisn).
He is a Registered Environmental Health Officer with Practice Licence Certificate (LM. EHORECON), Abuja, Nigeria.
He holds the Certificate in Occupational Health and Membership Certificate of College of Biomedical Engineering and Technology, Nigeria.
He served as an auxiliary teacher in Okemesi Modern School and St. Anne's Catholic Primary School in 1977/1978. In 1981, he became a Public Health Superintendent, and rose to the rank of Chief Environmental Health Officer in some Local Government Areas in Ondo and Ekiti States of Nigeria. He ascended the rank and post of Director/Head of Environmental Health Services/WATSAN Director.
He has been a West Africa Health Examinations Board (WAHEB) Examiner since 2002. He was the Director of Professional Institute of Environmental Health for Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria Examinations and training of allied degree holders as Professional Environmental Health Officers, Ekiti State Learning Centre.
He was a Member of Ekiti State Environmental Sanitation Task Force in 2007 - 2011, coordinating Prosecution of sanitary cases in Ad-hoc duty capacity.
He was one of the 10 Environmental Health Practitioners sponsored from Nigeria by West African Health Organization (WAHO) to Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso for harmonization of Curricula for Environmental Health Professionals in ECOWAS sub region in 2011.
He was one of the members of the team of Professionals consulted for the establishment of Fabotas College of Health Technology, Ado Ekiti and that of Legacy University, Banjul, the Gambia.
'Bayo Ojo was the pioneer Head of the Department of Environmental Health in the School of Health Technology, Ijero Ekiti from 2000-2009 during which the following courses were introduced and accredited:
ND/HND in Environmental Health Technology, Environmental Health Technicians in Training, Environmental Health Assistants in Training and Food Hygiene.
In June 2011, he was on full appointment and transfer of service to the College establishment with the status of the pioneer Chief Lecturer of the College and he became the pioneer Dean of the School of Environmental Health as the Institution transmuted from School of Health Technology to Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti. Soon thereafter he was appointed as a member of Governing Council, representing the Academic Board in August, 2011.
On 7th September, 2011, he became the Acting Provost of the College and was appointed the substantive and pioneer Provost of the College for his first tenure on 27th June, 2013 while his appointment was renewed with effect from 28 June, 2017. During his tenure as Provost of the College, the Institution got NBTE approval and Accreditation. The Institution grew and developed from 6 Departments to 24 Departments and increased from one School (Faculty) under a Dean of 6 Departments to 6 Schools (Faculties) with at least 3 Departments each and a Service Directorate of General Studies, Communication Studies and Entrepreneurial Skills.
As he voluntarily retired from the Service of the College on 30th September 2018, he proceeded to intra-national and international educational services.
He co-founded the Erijiyan Socialight Klob (ESK) with Prince Claudius Adetule in 1979 and served as the Club Pioneer Secretary General, Director of Socials and President at different times. The Club organized free WAEC Coaching, and give awards to best students in WAEC O Level Examinations. The social Club also organized symposium, Debates and Public Lectures etc on contemporary issues during holidays.
'Bayo Ojo In his School days, was the Chairman of Press Club, Chairman of Constitution Drafting Committee, School of Health Technology Students Union Government, Akure in 1978/1979 and between 1979 and 1980, he was elected as the Secretary General, School of Health Technology, Akure Students Union Government, the National Deputy P.R.O of National Association of Health Superintendent Students and National PRO of National Association of Schools of Health Technology Students of Nigeria. He was the PRO of Federation of Erijiyan Students Union from 1983-1984.
He was the Private Secretary (Aide) to Honourable Bola Akingbade, the first Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly between 1979-1983;
Pastor 'Bayo Ojo was in 1989 elected the Akoko North Local Government, NULGE Secretary and NLC Secretary, Akoko North and South.
He received Certificate of Merit as a member of Students Union Representative Council (SRC), University of Ife (Unife now O.A.U.) in 1985.
He has got many Honours, Merit awards and commendations such as the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Health Commendation in 2012;
Commissioner for Health Commendation remarks in 2012; and Merit Award of Outstanding Performance by the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) 2011.
Others include Outstanding Leadership Award, 2011 by the Federation of Ekiti West Students of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti;
He got the Merit Award 2012 Edition from Pillar of Health Vision;
He was bestowed with the Award of Outstanding Performance from College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti Alumni Association twice: 2013 and 2017;
Pastor Dr. Bayo Ojo received Commendation from the College Governing Council under the Chairmanship of Chief Mrs. Monisola Oloro for dexterity in students crisis management, 2012;
He also received the 2013 African Role Model Award conferred on him by the African Age International Magazine.
Others include: Merit Award of Worthy Ambassador of Erijiyan Ekiti, Nigeria, the Golden City by the Erijiyan Improvement Union, 2012.
He received the Merit Award, 2013 by the Federation of Erijiyan Ekiti Students Union. He got the Award of Excellence from the Youths of C.A.C. Oke-Isegun Ni temi, Ado Ekiti under the Presiding Prophetess Oluwayose; His Excellency former Governor Fayose's Mother.
Pastor Dr. 'Bayo Ojo is the Winner of Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award 2015/2016 and was honoured with Admission to WASU Hall of Fame. He bagged the Merit Award of Yoruba Youth Assembly entitled "Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Award."
He was awarded the Golden Personality of the Year by Africa Youth Parliament (AYP), and granted the privilege of Admission to Nelson Mandela Hall of Fame on 28th June, 2017;
He was on same 28th day of June, 2017 also inaugurated as one of the Patrons of Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) at the inauguration ceremony of renewal of his appointment as Provost of College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti on the approval of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, the then Governor of Ekiti State of Nigeria as Second tenure substantive Provost of the College.
Dr. 'Bayo Ojo, on 19th day of January, 2018, was conferred with the Honour entitled "EPITOME OF GOOD LEADERSHIP" by the Arewa Youth Movement of Nigeria. He was conferred with the 2018 Outstanding Leadership honour's Award as Grand PATRON of NANS on March 22, 2018.
In 2018, he was conferred with International Honour as Ambassador of Peace by the Universal Peace Builders Association (Council of Ambassadors of Peace & Unification), he voluntarily retired from the service of the College with effect from October 2018.
He was appointed Associate Professor in West African University, Portnovo in October 2018 and Provost of Crown Point International College of Health Sciences and Technology, Owode Yewa via Idiroko, Ogun State from October 2018 - October 2022.
He served as the Consultant/Provost of Golden Heart College of Health Science and Technology, now transformed to Golden Heart College of Nursing Sciences, Moloko-Asipa Asipa Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He was elected as the Secretary General of Association of Provosts of Colleges of Health Sciences and Technology in of Nigeria in 2014 and on 29th November 2016, he was elected as the Chairman of the Association, taking over from Dr. Ado Bello, now late. On 22nd September, 2025, he was reelected as the Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Health Technology and Nursing Sciences of Nigeria.
He is the Acting Secretary General of West African Association of Provosts of Colleges of Health (Association ouest-africaine des recteurs des collèges d’hygiène, des sciences de la santé et de la technologie).
He's recently appointed the Director of Education, Exams and Finance of the Nigeria Institute of Healthcare Givers and Medical Social Work. Dr. Johnson Adebayo Ojo, the incumbent Provost of Oke Osanyintolu College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ido Ekiti Nigeria is also an ordained Pastor in the RCCG.
He authors various Publications including Research works. He is married to Mrs. Nike Adebayo - Ojo and blessed with six Children by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
